District 3 Chief Deputy

Darren Gantz is your Chief Deputy for Commissioner Kelly Dunkerley. Deputy Gantz has completed the following training:

• Certification Program for County Commissioners from the County Training Program at Oklahoma State University
• Certificate of completion of required instruction to be designated a Roads Scholar through Oklahoma State University’s Local Assistance Training Program
• Professional Development Academy a Master Certificate of High-Performance Leadership
• National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training Certificate through the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the United States Department of Transportation

In his role as Chief Deputy Commissioner for District 3 Commissioner Kelly Dunkerley, Darren serves as liaison between the Board of County Commissioners, the public, and department managers, and recommends organizational changes and management decisions.

In the course of his daily work schedule, he performs advanced administrative duties; creates organizational structures of new divisions or assists in the change of such structures in existing divisions; carries out the detail work following Board decisions; recommends or assists in writing new policies or revising old policies as needs arise. He represents the Board of County Commissioners on various committees and performs other duties as assigned.

Darren uses his skills in written and oral communications, in budget preparation, and in governmental administration. He utilizes his knowledge of public administration, organizational structure, operating functions, principles and practices of sociology, fiscal administration, and of departmental policies and procedures. Darren has an ability to deal tactfully with others, to plan, organize and oversee the work of others, to organize and present facts and opinions clearly and concisely, to reason analytically, and to serve as a representative of the Board.

Darren uses his ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents daily. He utilizes these skills to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Darren also has an ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format as well as the ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Darren has been an independent insurance agent specializing in risk management solutions for business owners and individuals for more than 24 years. He worked with top rated insurance companies so he can offer his clients the best coverage to suit their needs. His clients are located across Oklahoma, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape. Darren designs plans with a focus on risk management, low cost, and tax-efficiency, which he combines with personalized financial advice aimed at helping clients make better informed decisions.

Darren is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University where he earned his Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on Finance.
